YouTube Channels That Remind Me That Not All YouTubers Are Like Jake Paul

I'm well aware that Jake Paul has 19.6 million subscribers and that there's a chance that you, my dear reader, are a "Jake Pauler". So I sincerely apologize if I offend you. Continue on supporting a man child who caused constant disruption and terror to his neighbors for views and wrote a diss track about teachers because they didn't teach him how to buy a Lamborghini with cash.

In the wise words of Jake Paul, "Five mil' on YouTube in six months, never done before. Passed all the competition man, PewDiePie is next. Man, I'm popping all these checks, got the brand new Rolex." For some reason, YouTube's algorithm puts "influencers" like Jake Paul on the top. Huh. All you gotta do to be a successful YouTuber is be really good at manipulating an audience of children by screaming and/or flex all of your material wealth.

Let's face it, Jake Paul's audience (mostly comprised of, you guessed it, tween girls) isn't going away any time soon.

Of course, Jake Paul isn't the only popular YouTuber. But to be honest, many of them are making the same kind of content. It's getting to be really repetitive guys, don't you think? Yeah, following the trends is a smart choice on their end. YouTube is their job. They need money, that's a fact. But don't you ever wish you could come across a channel that makes original content while also making BANK like they deserve?

Yeah, me too.

So, here's a list of just a few awesome channels that deserve way more attention than Jork Peel and his team of 10. I can assure you 100% that these YouTubers will not be having YouTube boxing match to settle a petty online feud.

I'll be telling you a little blurb about the creator and the style of videos they generally make, then I'll tell you if you could watch their videos in front of a classroom of kindergarteners without feeling ashamed of yourself. You know, just in case you want to watch them with people within hearing distance and you're too lazy to go grab some earphones (I can't just assume you all have AirPods, now can I?).

Let's get on with it, shall we?

I. Love. 24. Frames. of. Nick. Known as the "Inventor of Nostalgia", Nick makes film analysis videos usually about childhood movies. His claims to fame are his High School Musical videos; I myself found this channel through his "Why Chad And Ryan Switched Clothes In High School Musical 2" video. No matter what video he does, whether it be about a terrible rip off of some big-budget movie or a childhood classic, he puts all of his heart into it. You usually don't expect a video about Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the Second Dimension to have actual insightful commentary, but somehow, it does. Of course, he doesn't take himself too seriously. His videos are all light-hearted and it's really just him reliving those childhood memories while viewers join him along for the ride. If you're missing those times of Silly Bands and Smencils, he's the guy you want to check out.

Here's my favorite video of his: "Do You Remember Camp Rock?"

The fact that I never noticed Kevin Jonas looking straight at the camera after he delivered every line? Wack.

Watch in front of a classroom of kindergarteners rating: He drops some swear-bombs in some of his older videos but the newer ones are relatively PG. You could get away with it with low volume. I think.

This man got me wheezing whenever I watched his videos. Not just because I was laughing so hard, but because I went on a total binge on his videos when I was out of school sick for the past few days and all of my obnoxious laughter turned into a large coughing fit. You know, Chris should be the poster boy for my blog, he's got an older brother and a younger one. His merch line is called Middle Kid.

I swear I didn't steal his gag.

Moving on, Chris's current videos are just a comedic mess, but an amazing comedic mess. (His intro is "Welcome to the dysfunction that is my channel" so I mean, that speaks for itself) I often think to myself, "Chris, this is not gonna go well" whenever he posts a video. His videos are often him going out in public, usually the streets of Fairfax, LA, and asking strangers the most outlandish questions. My family and I, being of Asian descent, sometimes get the question: "Yeah, but where are you originally from? Like before America?" But Chris, oh sweet Chris, turned that question onto the white community of LA in his "Asking White People Where They're Really From" video and I thought he was going to get decked. Along with his stranger videos, he does a lot of collaborations with his roommate Andrew Lowe (a power duo, really) which are usually prank-call videos as well as art and cooking videos that seem like they can only go terribly wrong. I mean he made a mold of his face and his eyebrows and eyelashes CAME OFF, then he filled the mold with plaster and when it hardened THE EYEBROWS AND EYELASHES STUCK ONTO IT SO HE HAS A PLASTER REPLICA OF HIS FACE WITH HIS ACTUAL HAIR ON IT.

Woah, Nickels, calm down.

Here's my favorite video of his: "Dyeing My Hair Leopard Print"

Not only did he successfully dye his hair leopard print, but he, an adult man, also accidentally pooped his pants on camera.

Watch in front of a classroom of kindergarteners rating: OH GOSH PLEASE NO. You should be ashamed of yourself if you let them hear this. Save the children, protect their ears.

Fairbairn Films (Lachlan and Jaxon Fairbairn)

This is hard to explain. Gen Z comedy has become awfully... Weird. I'll honestly laugh at anything. That's probably why I love Fairbairn Films so much. Their content is like the modern and more organized (in a very loose sense of the term) version of young kids back in the early stages of YouTube just making random little skits in their basement because they're bored.

Their videos are, on average, less than 7-minutes long, oddly specific skits written by Lachlan Fairbairn and performed by himself and his brother Jaxon. The best parts about these videos are how terrible Lachlan and Jaxon are at acting and how they're never on the screen together because one of them always has to hold the camera so there are hundreds of jumpcuts. It's absolutely ridiculous and I love it.

I dare you to try and guess what's going on in this video. If you need help, its called "A Day In The Life Of An Australian". I don't know if that explains the gif or makes it more confusing.

How can you resist comedy classics like "When Your Toast Is Raw" or "Sauce In The Fridge". Out of context, it makes no sense whatsoever and that's really on-brand for Fairbairn Films. Both feature Jaxon going bonkers on Lachlan and to be honest, that's what a lot of their videos are. That or trying to prove that Australia isn't real and all Australians (AKA themselves) are all paid actors.

I'm now realizing how hard it is to generalize their content because, man, do they do some random stuff on their channel.

Here's my favorite video of theirs: "Parent-Teacher Interview With Gus Johnson"

I could make a whole nother BLOG, not just a post, about my love for Gus Johnson, but that's for another day. And I figured that without audio this wouldn't make sense so here's a clip instead of a gif.

Watch in front of a classroom of kindergarteners rating: I mean they bleep out the f-bomb but for some reason, that's the only expletive they bleep... Proceed with caution.

Five Foot One Teacher (Brittany Sinitch)

Brittany just makes me so happy. She's such a cute human being, one with a gorgeous heart. She's a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School alum and came back with her passion to teach freshman English and Drama! Her first year was the 2017-2018 school year when the tragic mass shooting at Parkland occurred. Since then, she's taken a break from teaching and started the Unbreakable Org, an organization that reaches out to communities and schools to help them find what makes them unbreakable.

Her videos are categorized as lifestyle, often about teaching or just a day in her life. Whenever I watch her videos, I'm usually in a cheesy smile because her personality just makes me so happy. She puts her entire heart and soul into whatever she does, and as a result, her students adore her. One time, she let them have her camera and they said some of the sweetest, most sincere things about her. TEARS. I was a little baby while I watched that video.

She's the kind of human being that makes you remember that the world isn't filled with complete and utter trash.

Here's my favorite video of hers: "I Can't Believe My Students Did This (Emotional)"

She's a whole Wonder Woman. She started this chapter of Dance Marathon at Marjory Stoneman Douglas and together they raised over $100,000? No words.

Watch in front of a classroom of kindergarteners rating: Completely fine!! I imagine that their teacher would enjoy her channel very much.

영원씨01seeTV (Yeongwon Kim)

I have nothing more to say other than this is my 4th favorite grandmother, behind my two biological grandmas and Grandmother Fa from Disney's Mulan. (Asian Grandmas for the win!) She's so wholesome, just a nice 'ol Korean Grandma enjoying a meal on camera! It doesn't get much better than that.

She just smiles and my day brightens up by 200%.

I know a lot of people think it's gross, but I love mukbangs and eating ASMR. If I catch you chewing with your mouth open in real life though I will yell at you, no cap. She's basically the queen of it. Change my mind, you can't.

She's also the queen of adorable little travel vlogs. Like, look at her living her best life at the Kensington Star Hotel in Sokcho, Korea. She's got a whole travel Instagram too! This is really how I'm tryna be in the future.

via Instagram

There usually aren't any subtitles for those of you that don't understand Korean (ie: me), but she doesn't talk much anyway. It's just you, her, and the food. Sometimes she'll bring her husband along or she'll do some peaceful cooking, but that's it. It's just simple times. You don't always need some wild video to watch, sometimes we gotta just relax and enjoy simplicity.

Here's my favorite video of hers: "Grandmother Kyoho Jelly Eating Show"

When she pops the purple jelly and it scares her, the sound she makes is so cute. I love this woman please let me give her a hug.

Watch in front of a classroom of kindergarteners rating: Yes. 100%. Though I wonder how kindergarteners would react to people just eating on YouTube... But they're kindergarteners in the 21st century so they've probably seen everything YouTube has to offer.

Ur Mom Ashley (Ashley Alexander)

Ashley isn't really a mom, she's more like the big sister I never had. She's also a lifestyle YouTuber, but more on the beauty side. She makes a lot of clothing videos because she's an actual style ICON. Like she makes everything look good, even in her "Styling Ugly Clothes Into Cute Outfits For A Week" video and her "39 Monochromatic Outfit Ideas" video she's rocking it. I would literally get dragged if I wore that green striped shirt with the grid skirt or if I wore all orange. Someone would call me a traffic cone, for sure.

via Instagram

My favorite videos of hers are the ones she does with her siblings, Andrew and Amber (for ExTRa dYNaMic!). They're always having a good time, whether it be awkwardly talking to this guy named Zack that wouldn't leave them alone in California or watching Ashley face plant twice because she wanted to do a flip on the shores of Nantucket. Family goals.

She's vegan too, but don't worry, she's not one of the stereotypical "in-your-face" vegans. Even though I'm definitely a meat-eater, I love watching her food videos. She's so healthy I really could never. Catch me eating fist-fulls of granola while watching her eat a salad.

I will literally watch Ashley's videos whenever I have time, I love her!!!!

ASHLEY DRANK THE THICK WATER THAT ANDREW SPIT IN THEN THEY PLAYED WITH IT HAHAHA

L to R: Andrew, Amber, Ashley

Watch in front of a classroom of kindergarteners rating: They love dropping the f-bomb and talking about donkeys (but... not really, if you catch my drift) so I wouldn't watch the videos with the three Alexander siblings together in front of the kids. But the other ones you may be able to get away with it. But be careful.

And there it is! A few underrated creators on YouTube that definitely will not set a bunch of furniture on fire in an empty pool while disregarding their neighbors' safety. I hope you found at least one YouTuber you'd consider checking out because all of these people produce truly great content that deserves to be seen.
